1. Nunsongyee
I'm sure many of you have heard of Nunsongyee before as it's one of the first bingsu places to arrive in Singapore!
I was really excited as it's my first time eating bingsu after seeing so many bingsu photos on instagram!! So I kept bugging my bff and she decided to go with me!
I still remember her exact words were "Okay let's go, you've been saying you want to eat bingsu since 3 months ago" when I dragged her to Nunsongyee with me HAHA
During February, there was Mango Bingsu on the menu! So we ordered 1 and tteokbokki to share!
The Mango Bingsu was really good! Fine, milky shaved ice that melts in your mouth, with the rich vanilla icecream on top and there's cheesecake and cookie crumbs hidden underneath!
Super duper yummy and it left me a good impression of bingsu!
Bff wanted to try tteokbokki as she's been watching Running Man and I would like to say the tteokbokki was not to our liking.
Without the sauce, the rice cake has no taste at all and although it was toasted and had a nice texture to it, the sauce didn't appeal to us at all! It was a little spicy and had a bit of garlic taste? We struggled to finish it....
Mango Bingsu 4/5
Tteokbokki 1.5/5
In addition, I went to Nunsongyee again with another group of friends as we went to the trampoline park beside!!!
This time round we tried the Oreo Bingsu and I really like it although my friends thought it was mediocre and not worth to pay $18 for this Korean ice kachang!
This Oreo bingsu has 1 scoop of ice cream on top and underneath and generous amount of cookie crumb! The Oreo they used is different from the usual Oreo and I like it a lot as I thought it's more crunchy!
I even joked and said this is the Korean version of Mcflurry haha but I felt that it's more worth to order other flavours as this has limited variety of ingredients!
Oreo Bingsu 3.9/5
2. Nunsaram Korean Dessert Café (Orchard Central)
When Nunsaram just opened, they had an opening special and there was free bingsu.
So off I went with Christine and some of her friends to grab some!!! I mean who rejects free food???
So pictured here is the Matcha Bingsu which was my favourite among the three!
I felt that Nunsongyee's bingsu is nicer as the shaved ice is more milky and the texture is softer.
Matcha Bingsu 3.1/5
Nunsongyee did Oreo Bingsu better as there were more ingredients! And the taste is just different, probably due to the addition of almond flakes..
The waiting time at Nunsaram was very long too although there weren't many people!
Oreo Bingsu 3/5
Cheesecake bingsu with a few cheesecake crumbs! There's not much cheesecake taste so I think it's not that nice as I personally thought that the cheesecake taste will be quite strong and rich.
Cheesecake Bingsu 2.9/5
3. Snowman Desserts (Nex)
Signature Melon Bingsu which was super duper average! The ice was really tasteless and we had to spam a lot of condensed milk!
We ordered the injeolmi bingsu to share as well and it was quite bad. (not pictured) The rice cakes were hard and not chewy and the bowl of ice is tasteless once again... The boy mentioned Binggojung's is nicer!
Snowman Desserts 2.4/5
4. Frozen Dessert Café (Clementi Vibe)
Real Brownie Bingsu which was really the worst out of the lot. I didn't wanted to give this place a try at all but Christine wanted so I just gave in....
Firstly, the brownie didn't taste like the ones from real brownie at all!!
The ice was super rough as well (worse than local's ice kachang) and I personally prefer fine, smooth texture for bingsu!
The bowl had a variety of ingredients though, vanilla icecream with koko crunch layered at the bottom and generous topping of brownie!
Shared this among the 3 of us and we couldn't finish it at all.... Totally wont come back here again.....
Brownie Bingsu 2/5
So here's the end of Bingsu Adventures I, looking forward to visit Binggojung and O'ma spoon soon!!
