Thai food compilation (Nakhon kitchen, siam kitchen, thai express)

Siam Kitchen (@ NEX)
Was deciding what to eat at nex when my friend and I came across this restaurant at nex! Since my friend's a lover of spicy food, we decided to give this place a try!

So I cant really take tom yum or any super spicy food (and I don't wanna eat green curry like I always do), I ordered this dish! (I forgot what the exact name was, I think it's something like seafood glass noodle?)

It tasted good! Super flavourful just that it's quite oily..

And my friend ordered this tomyum egg omelette soup kind of thing? The soup was sour but the egg omelette thing (sponge lookalike, floating in the picture) was really weird as it doesn't have any egg taste at all! Both of us didn't really like it as we didn't expect it to be like that.

But the dessert, red ruby, was super yummy! I saw the other table ordering it and I can't help but order one too!
This, unlike the usual red ruby where it composed of coconut milk and shaved ice, this is coconut ice cream instead! The coconut ice cream is quite sweet but the taste is super refreshing, the water chestnuts was crunchy and the jackfruit slices on top was sweet!

Verdict: It really depends on your luck as this place is filled with nice and not so nice food!

Thai Express

I love this thai version of char kuay teow!!
Super flavourful with lots of wok hei taste but the dish in the foreground is not to my liking! It's some salad and it's spicy and sour!
I have reviewed thai express before so I wont be saying much!

Nakhon Kitchen (@ Holland Village)

So I went to nakhon kitchen today at their latest outlet over at holland v! I didn't know they had a new outlet as I couldn't find much information about it as well until my friend told me about it!
I have always wanted to try nakhon kitchen but the outlet at kovan is always filled with people and the queue is so long!!!
But the outlet at holland v doesn't have a queue at all!!

Thai iced milk tea ($3 each)! The colour gradient is pretty but I think the one in bangkok is really nicer as it's richer!

Clear tom yum chicken soup, green curry chicken, minced pork basil rice, pandan chicken (clockwise)

The entire meal was super spicy for me! Both of my friends who can take spice well said that the tomyum soup is spicy! (I didn't drink the soup after 1 mouth)
The green curry is yummy, slightly sweet and the sauce goes well with the rice!
I like the minced pork as well as the sauce is rich in taste, not the diluted kind! (but I felt that it was spicy too???)
The only thing not spicy was pandan chicken! I thought that it will be kind of sweet like satay (like the meat I ate in bkk) but it isn't! Quite disappointed but the chicken is super fragrant!!

Verdict: will definitely go back to nakhon kitchen again to try their other dishes (like pad thai which is highly raved by my friend!)

Holland Village I

Sunday Folks

(throwback, I went there when they just opened!)
When sunday folks just opened, there were a lot of pretty and highly raved instagram posts about it, thus I decided that I really need to go there and try it for myself!
So I went there 1 day after school, we didn't check their opening hours and we had to wait like 1hr outside the place for them to open! (Please do your research and don't be like us)

They have so many toppings and I was spoil for choice! Wanted to get everything and so thankful that my friends let me choose the toppings (we were sharing the waffle!)

In the end, I picked cheesecake, green tea nama and nama chocolate to go with our lavender earl grey soft serve and waffles! (blueberries and strawberries are complimentary)

The verdict: the waffles are not as yummy as wimbly lu's (they really have the best waffles in town) and the soft serve taste kinda like soap! But overall, it was a refreshing dessert! Oh and, the best topping was green tea nama, it was so good I wished there were more!

Plain Vanilla

Before we came in the cafe, we walked around holland village since we were early! Then, I bought some plain vanilla cupcakes!! The packaging is so classy and gorgeous!! (But it was a little hard to carry around though!)

And this is the cupcakes I got! Didn't get more because my family doesn't fancy sweet stuffs and I can't possibly finish them all on my own!

The verdict: the frosting of salted caramel was too sweet (on the left) but the cake is moist and dense! While banana milk chocolate (on the right) was not too bad but I didn't quite like the chocolate taste as I will prefer it richer and the dried banana on top had a plastic taste! (which I had high hopes for as I've baked  banana cake before with dried banana on top and it taste great)
So I was honestly quite disappointed with plain vanilla but I will give them another chance when I visit them another time!
